Events and Fundraising

The Friends of Carrick Hill are a very special group of over 400 committed supporters who want to ensure Carrick Hill continues to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. To do this we hold a varied calendar of events for Friends and their guests throughout the year, with proceeds going to projects at Carrick Hill. Our events include guest speakers such as authors, garden experts and talks on exotic travel destinations, movie events, our popular annual quiz night and the very successful Antique Roadshow - Good, Better, Best - a fun way to test your antique knowledge by pitting your wits against a panel of antique experts.

The Heyday of the  Haywards 1940 - 1970

This charming book produced by the Friends of Carrick Hill, recaptures the world of Carrick Hill, both upstairs and downstairs and in my ladies chamber, full of reminiscences, recipes, anecdotes, facts and photographs. Servants and tradesmen, celebrities, guests and family tales all contribute to evoking the atmosphere that was and is Carrick Hill. Like a mosaic, every piece contributes to the overall picture of the life of the Haywards. This stylish and wealthy Adelaide couple, Sir Edward and Lady Ursula Hayward, created a remarkable home in Springfield from what was agricultural land.

  • The Heyday of the Haywards is available for $33 in the Gift Shop at Carrick Hill. (Friends of Carrick Hill are entitled to a 10% discount on goods bought in the Gift Shop.)
