Margaret Heathcote is a retired architect and heritage consultant. Her many years in heritage work and travels have shown that an understanding of how and why a place came to be is crucial in deciding what and how it should be managed.
Style, fashion and patronage play a big part in architecture and heritage conservation, from cottages to castles. Margaret will take us through the evolution of classical design of our civic spaces, the value of vernacular buildings and who should bear the cost of keeping our community’s heritage for the future.
